Hello everyone,
I know a lot of people have gone away from pacmates but I am apalled to ask such a basic question so hope someone still uses them to remind me, if it matters I'm a version or two behind, but the most basic reset, is that the warm reset, how does one do that? I tried the chord with all the Braille dots with the exception of dot 5 (as I've got the Braille keyboard version with a 40 cell Braille Display I.E. BX40) but my memory was wrong that didn't work, so can someone kindly rescue me, as can't do anything but turn it on and off at the moment, happened when away a month ago, was doing something and didn't realise when it happened for a few hours before it occured that my Pac Mate Omni had effectively Crashed on me, so yep please please feel free and come to my rescue please that would be most gratefully appreciated! *SIGHING_SMILE*:(:(
Kind regards, Timber AKA Timothy Bamber (User #7902)!
Looks like you used right command. FS website says 1-2-3-4-6-7-8 chord. Here's the page with a list of all BX commands for your reference:
http://www.freedomscientific.com/documentation/pacmate/6.5/BX/appendix_a_pac_mate_commands.htm
Hope you get it working. Good luck.
Hello again to Everyone,
Well I shall give that page a look and that version sounds like the one I use, but maybe I didn't hold it down long enough and forgive me if I should have posted in the 'computer' board, I'll give it another go that chord I mean! Sorry hope I'm making sense 'coz I have a terrible headache today yikes indeed!:((/*SIGH*
Kind regards,

Hello again to everyone who reads this board,
Think with regret as I tried that chord again both quickly and holding it down for a few seconds, think in fact up to 10, and I discovered the Braille Display end still was 'alive', but the Braille Keyboard end was silent, think I'll have to therefore get in touch with the UK dealer Sight and Sound, last time it worked I borrowed the display for my laptop and after marrying them back together onwards it has played up!:(( So as yet can't report any good news I.E. getting it working again! *SIGH*
I'll to pardon the 'pun' keep you um 'posted'! *SAD_SMILE*
Kind regards,

So, you're getting output on the Braille display, but no audio? Is that what you're saying? Sounds like you might have accidentally muted speech or something like that. I don't remember the command for that, but it'll be on the list I gave the link for.
Hello again,
Not quite, I can get audio if I use the whizz wheels and Braille too, but if I use the main area, the keyboard area I mean, I don't get any speech nor change on the Braille display!:((

Try holding the power switch in the "on" position for fifteen seconds then releasing. That always worked for me.
Hello again everyone,
Can't recall the term is that the next step up from the simplest reset, don't want to perform the most serious one, oh can't recall what they're called as I write, I mean the one after 'warm' by any chance is that the one meant in the previous post? *SIGH*/:((

no, tha'ts not a cold reset return to factory defaults. tha'ts on h the back of th the unit someware. this is just another way to reset t the unit.
Hi Everyone,
Hoping I didn't do the factory one, I am pleased to announce, that I have got my Pac Mate working again, I tried two things:-
1.
As mentioned a couple of postings ago I tried the holding the on/off switch down for approx 15 seconds
2.
And this one I hope didn't do the factory reset but next to what I think is the headphone socket I found a screw position and I gently pressed my nail into it again for around 15 seconds!
Anyway the good news is yea it is now working again just not sure after which it came back to 'life' as it were!:)):))
Kind regards and thanks for your help above! *SMILE*

Pushing that button in is not a factory reset on the Omni, meaning it won't wipe out your data. I don't remember how you do that but it's some combination of pushing that button in plus holding the power switch in either the on or the off direction. There are different boot types and the documentation will explain, but just pushing in on that button does a reboot without erasing any data. On models before the Omni that would have reset your data and you'd come up with that welcome screen, your JAWS would speak at the default rates and all your documents and settings would have been gone, like when you first got it.
Hello everyone,
I do have the omni, and although it went quiet for a bit and then said "JAWS For Pocket PC is ready", I checked my files were still there and yep they were, normally now I do use the little cards you slot in oh can't recall what they're called, but early on I didn't, I mean in the early years of having the pac mate before it was converted to an Omni model, think it is a version or two behind again, unrelated my time and date were reset a few months back and silly me I still haven't amended it yet but again not because of it crashing on me, the original idea of the chord with all Braille keys but dot 5 now works typical! Least it is working again but the adventures and misadventures of computers wirking/playing up!...

hi timber
firstly, there's no such thing as a stupid question at all lol. for tech support in the UK, sight and sound are good but blazie are better. I'm not sure if Tim Birgis still works for them but he's your man

Hello everyone,
Funnily enough got my Pac Mate originally from Blazie UK responding to last poster, but as I got JAWS from Sight And Sound, had switched over, but might review it as one of the cells needs repairing, but the problem I cited above I fixed a few weeks back!:):)

Awesome, I'm glad you got it working. The reset where you push a paper clip into the little hole on the bottom usually works for me with mine. I use mine for tons of things and love it, so I totally get where you're coming from if it dies on you!!
Take Care,
